Have you ever heard of a book-blog tour?
Until I left corporate America and started writing and publishing books for a living, I’d never heard of “book-blog tours.” (That may be because I didn’t get out of corporate America much before blogs in general became a thing.)
Book-blog tours are organized by publicists or blog-tour experts. They contact book bloggers (there are more than you think) and ask them to join a particular book’s tour by posting reviews or comments about a book and/or posting guest blogs by the author—all within a short time frame. I imagine there are other kinds of blog tours as well that have nothing to do with books. Maybe mommy-blog tours, or Civil-War-reenactment-blog tours. Who knows?
Blog tours are great for authors because they get us exposure on the blogs where many readers get their book ideas. Of course, it’s a little less great if the reviews that are posted aren’t very enthusiastic, but let’s stay optimistic here!
My publicist asked the Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours to organize one such tour for The Rebel Nun. It started April 14 and will end May 14. You can read a couple of the past posts here:
You can follow the tour whenever it occurs to you over the next month. And watch for my two guest blogs (where I get to write something related to my book or my writing process) on April 26 on Books, Ramblings and Tea, and April 27 on Novels Alive.
